What a roadside tire change cannot do
A mobile spare install is not a tire shop. We do not mount and balance new tires at the roadside, and we do not sell tires. If you have no usable spare, sidewall damage on multiple tires, or a bent wheel, the vehicle needs a tow to a tire shop. We will tell you that on the phone rather than charging for a call that cannot solve it.
Spare tire rules worth knowing
- A compact "donut" spare is typically limited to about 50 mph and 70 miles — get to a shop promptly.
- Check the spare's pressure while it is still in the trunk; many are years out of date.
- Have your lug key or locking-nut socket findable. Missing lug keys are the number one reason a tire call stalls.
- Many newer vehicles ship with a sealant kit and no spare at all. Check yours before you need it.
